Hi, I know a general rule of thumb when fighting Mallyx is not to use any enchantments, hexes, conditions or stances but someone once told me that you also shouldn't use any melee weapons on him. Since I'm working on getting through DoA on my Paragon I've got to ask, is this true or just baloney?

It's not true if you're running a team with melee classes. I've seen multiple shots of Mallyx defeated with melee present.

I did it with just me (Warrior) and a friend (paragon) plus heroes. all 4 areas + mallyx with just us.

BTW melee weapons thing was back during the ursan days as every time u hit mallyx in the room u lose 2e....so yeah back then your ursan from will be down almost straight away.
i've done this after the ursan days just so know why they didnt want to use melee weapons.

Ok, that does make sense then. Sounds like an example of old habits that are hard to kill or forget. Something all too common with players who pug I suppose.
